📰 News we're reading

1. Greenville's County Square redevelopment enters next phase (wspa.com) — Vertical construction is about to begin on Greenville's 40-acre County Square redevelopment, which city leaders call one of the most transformational projects in years. With infrastructure work finished, 10 new mixed-use buildings, a 385-space parking garage, and major retailers like Whole Foods are planned to extend and relieve congestion around downtown and the West End.

2. Prouty returns to Swamp Rabbits (echl.com) — Greenville hockey fans will see a familiar face as defenseman Joe Prouty returns to the Swamp Rabbits for his first full professional season. After a strong late-season debut in 2025-26 and a solid college career, he's set to bolster the blue line at Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

3. Upstate reflects on the 'Dolly Effect' with her program Imagination Library (wspa.com) — Greenville County families can rest assured that Dolly Parton's Imagination Library will keep mailing free books to local children despite the singer's death. Greenville First Steps says the program now serves 16 county zip codes, with thousands of kids receiving monthly books that build early literacy, alongside similar efforts in Laurens, Anderson, and Spartanburg counties.

4. Greenville performer recalls moments with Dolly Parton (foxcarolina.com) — A longtime Greenville performer is sharing heartfelt memories of working around Dolly Parton at Dollywood, recalling the star's kindness, personal attention, and support for wildfire victims in Tennessee. Tiffany St. Clair, who has performed at Greenville's Centre Stage, says Parton's example of humility and love still shapes how she treats people today.
