The Greenville Jewish Film Festival is hosting a Pop-Up Movie series at Camelot Cinemas, and our next film is Bella, being shown on Sunday, August 30th at 4pm. All tickets must be purchased in advance.
The film tells the story of Yaki, who learns his only inheritance is a prize show dove, and she slips away almost as soon as she arrives. He talks his childhood friend Bilal into a road trip across Israel and Palestine to get her back, wives in tow, with the Jerusalem Dove Beauty Pageant on the calendar and the clock running.
The film comes from two directors, Zohar Shachar and Jamal Khalaily. She is a Jewish Israeli, he is Palestinian, and they have been friends and creative partners since 2015. "We believe that stories of hope — led by kind, multicultural protagonists — are essential in a world like ours,” they wrote about the film.
Tickets are $18 (email for student discount) and can be purchased on our website, greenvillejewishfilmfestival.com/bella/
