Area Sports Update

Dutch Fork Football:

While Irmo High School opened their season with a loss to South Pointe 21-17, Dutch Fork was still preparing for their season opener against Southeast Raleigh HS this Saturday at Myrtle Beach.  Kickoff is at 4:30.  Dutch Fork has tweeked their scheme a little this year to take advantage of two good tight ends who will help boost the running game that really came on strong with the emergence of M. Colburn late last season and give protection to senior QB, D Olenchuck.  Replacing J. Berry at the WR position is impossible but several guys are trying to make some things happen at that position.  The passing attack will not be as explosive with Berry's departure but it will still be very effective.  My prediction is that J. Aiken is going to have a breakout season.  He's a versatile offensive weapon that can serve many different roles.  The DF defense looks very promising this year.  I think they are sometimes susceptible to the big play but they are overall very stingy in giving up yards and points.  I plan to travel to Myrtle Beach this weekend so I'll have some news to report upon my return.

FALL BALL REGISTRATION starts On-Line September 3rd and ends the 25th

Practices will start October 1st and games will start the week of October 15th
