New Generations Carrying on Traditions of Excellence at Archadeck of South Carolina
New Generation Carries Tradition at Archadeck of South Carolina

Since starting Archadeck of Central South Carolina nine years ago, Mike Reu has learned volumes about creating premium decks, sunrooms and porches. Now he is passing his knowledge along to the next two generations, as his son Marshall and his grandson Tucker are joining him to help prepare for the growth in the business.
“I am excited about the opportunity to keep the business in the family and to bring new approaches to our processes. And to be able to work together with my son and grandson is great”, says Reu.
Marshall comes to Archadeck having recently sold a fire protection services business which he helped create in Raleigh, N.C. Tucker, a Lance Corporal in the USMC reserves, graduated in May of this year from Pitt Community College with a degree in business. Together, the three generations of Reus have plans to double the revenues in the next two years.

“With the drop in housing values over the past 5 years, many people are interested in getting the most out of their current homes rather than moving up to a bigger house. Archadeck designs outdoor living spaces that allow people to take advantage of the nearly year-round good weather we have in South Carolina”, said Marshall. “We see this as an opportunity to meet our customers’ needs and expand the business.
How have outdoor spaces changes over the years? According to Mike, today the space goes far beyond a traditional deck. There is more of a holistic view of the backyard in which homeowners want to create a backyard escape. About a third of the company’s projects are now decks. The rest includes sunrooms, screened porches, pergolas, gazebos, docks, patios and outdoor entertaining areas, complete with outdoor kitchens and fireplaces.
