Firehouse Subs Donates $34,800+ to Local Fire and Police Departments

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is awarding much needed equipment to Temple Terrace Fire Department and the University of South Florida Police Department in a joint donation event, being held at the Firehouse Subs restaurant located on Fowler Ave. on Friday, February 21, at 10:30 a.m.

Temple Terrace Fire Department benefits with 30 residential lock box units, worth more than $5,370. The new equipment will provide residents peace of mind knowing first responders are able to quickly enter the residence in case of life-threatening situations and emergencies. The donated units will enhance the department’s “Community Knox Box” program, which has improved the safety and well-being of the elderly population for more than 10 years.

Additionally, the University of South Florida Police Department benefits with 15 automated external defibrillators (AEDs), worth more than $29,440. The donated devices will be placed in patrol cars, ensuring the department is prepared to provide life-saving assistance if a citizen goes into cardiac arrest.

In 2005, Firehouse Subs created the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, life-saving equipment, and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations. Through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs has given $8.3 million to hometown heroes in 39 states and Puerto Rico, including more than $1.65 million in Florida.

Each Firehouse Subs restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets and sells them to guests for $2. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
