Irmo Police Investigate Burglaries in New Friarsgate Neighborhood

The burglaries all occurred during the daytime when homeowners were away.

Irmo Police are investigating a string of burglaries in and near the New Friarsgate neighborhood.

Four burglaries occurred at New Friarsgate homes in June during the daytime, said Irmo Police Chief Brian Buck. Electronics such as flat-screen TVs and gaming systems were stolen from the homes. No one was home during any of the burglaries.

Police are hoping citizens can help catch the burglars.

"We're hoping that the people who are home during the day - whether they're retired or just not working - will keep an eye out and call us if they see anything," Buck said.

A fifth burglary occurred in the Old Friarsgate neighborhood, but police have suspects in that case and don't believe it's related to the others.

The New Friarsgate burglaries occurred on the following dates and at the following locations:

  • June 1 on Cressfell Circle
  • June 7 on Chadford Road
  • June 20 on Brickling Road
  • June 24 on Friarsgate Boulevard
Chief Buck says two burglaries at businesses near New Friarsgate may or may not be related. One occurred on June 19 at a pediatric dentistry office at 1 Thames Valley Road, and the other occurred on June 20 at the Salvation Army on Irmo Drive.

Anyone with information about the burglaries or suspicious activity should call the Irmo Police Department.
