Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, Rep. Michele Bachmann and Texas First Lady Anita Perry come to town.

Despite the clock ticking down on the Jan. 21 GOP primary in South Carolina, it's a rather slow week on the Palmetto State campaign trail.

The only candidates with announced events this week are former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann, who are both betting big on the state for an early victory. Both candidates are hoping to sell a lot of books as well.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who looked at the start like he would have a strong chance in South Carolina before flubbing a couple of early debates, will be represented this week by his wife, Anita.

Monday
2:45 p.m.: Gingrich to open his Charleston "Victory" office at 7671 Northwoods Boulevard in North Charleston.
3:45 p.m.: Anita Perry to appear at a Socastee High School Republican Club meeting in Myrtle Beach.
5 p.m.: Gingrich will hold a $500 per person fundraiser in downtown Charleston.
5:10 p.m.: Anita Perry to appear at a Waccamaw Neck Republican Club meeting on Pawley's Island.
7 p.m.: Gingrich will appear at Rep. Tim Scott's First in the South presidential town hall series at the College of Charleston. Afterwards, Gingrich and his wife will sign books.
7:10 p.m.: Anita Perry to appear at the Georgetown County GOP Patriot's Club Meeting at the Georgetown County Library at 405 Cleland St., Georgetown.
Tuesday
7:30 a.m.: Anita Perry appears with other leading Lowcountry Republicans at the Daniel Island Grill, 259 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island. Other Republicans scheduled to appear are state Sens. Larry Grooms, Paul Campbell and Mike Rose and state Reps. Chip Limehouse and Chris Murphy. The cost, which includes breakfast, is $12 in advance and $17 at the door.
8 a.m.: Gingrich appears at a $500 per person Hilton Head fundraiser.
9:15 a.m.: Gingrich appears at a $50 per person Hilton Head fundraiser.
11 a.m.: Anita Perry tours the Medal of Honor Museum aboard the USS Yorktown at Patriots Point.
12:30 p.m.: Gingrich opens his Bluffton "Victory" Office at 1247 May River Road.
12:30 p.m.: Anita Perry holds a "meet and greet" at Charleston Southern University.
1 p.m.: Gingrich appears at a town hall meeting at the Promenade. The event is free and open to the public.
6 p.m.: Gingrich appears at a SCGOP fundraiser and town hall meeting at the Newberry Opera House, 1201 McKibben St. For $25 per person, dinner is at 6 p.m. and admission to the town hall is covered. At 7:30, the town hall will bgin with $10 per person tickets.
Wednesday
8 a.m.: Gingrich appears at a Greenville town hall meeting at Tommy's Ham House at 214 Rutherford St. The event is free and open to the public.

Friday
3 p.m.: Bachmann book-signing at Books-A-Million in Rock Hill, 540 John Ross Parkway.
6:30 p.m.: Bachmann book-signing at Greenville Barnes & Noble, 1125 Woodruff Road.
Saturday
9 a.m.: Bachmann book-signing at Aiken Books-A-Million, 2441 Whiskey Road.
Noon: Bachmann book-signing at Columbia Sam's, 351 Harbison Blvd.
Sunday
3 p.m.: Bachmann book-signing at Books-A-Million in Myrtle Beach, 10177 N. Kings Highway.
6:30 p.m.: Bachmann book-signing at Florence Barnes & Noble, 2701 David McLeod Blvd.
