Silver Fox Football
Today marks the first day of full pads for the DF Silver Foxes. They began official practices last Friday and Saturday but that is far from the start of the season. These kids, coaches, and TD Club members have been hard at work all summer in preparation for the 2013 season. After attending the parent meeting Monday night, it's apparent by the attendance, that this program is full steam ahead and no one will be satisfied until a state title is brought home by this football program. Coach Tom Knotts is in his 4th season at Dutch Fork and he made it quite clear that the program is headed in the right direction but the ultimate goal has not been reached...yet. There's no doubt in his mind (or mine either) that there will be a football state championship at Dutch Fork in the near future. The football budget has grown by leaps and bounds because of the leadership of Coach Knotts and this TD Club. The budget is taking care of current needs and keeping an eye on the future in what is needed to sustain a winning football program. I know that a new sound system is being discussed, a new scoreboard is being discussed, they already installed new play clocks in the end zones (last season), and the brand new entrance tunnel (pictured) that the players will run through prior to kickoff! Along with all of the new construction in and around the high school for academic upgrades, the construction will bring along with it a new weight room, new locker room, locker room for officials, new parking for visiting fans, better locker room for visitors, better seating for visitors, new concessions for visitors, bus parking on the visitors side for all sports and it goes on and on. They varsity will be scrimmaging Spartanburg High School this Friday at 10a.m (at DFHS). That will be a chance for you to see what is going on around the school and what is going on, on the field.
