• York County lands another freestanding emergency department in fast-growing area (charlotteobserver.com) — Lake Wylie may soon get its own freestanding Piedmont Medical Center emergency department at Catamount Drive near the Five Points intersection, close to the new Westlake Village shopping center. The project, still under county permit review, would add 24/7 emergency care to a rapidly growing area already seeing new neighborhoods, a high school opening this fall, and expanding medical options on both sides of the state line.
