Investigators say someone has spent years posing as the reservation contact and collecting off-the-books cash for rentals, sponsorships, and possibly food truck spots. Official reservations should only go through York County’s website while the probe continues.

(heraldonline.com) — Lake Wylie’s luxury home market is helping drive record-setting prices across the Rock Hill region, with several recent sales topping $3 million on the lake. A $4.5 million Fort Mill estate now under contract could reset the regional record, underscoring how high-end demand is reshaping nearby communities’ housing markets.
   

3. Rock Hill Man Sentenced 25 Years Over Lake Wylie Fentanyl Lab (hoodline.com) — A Rock Hill man has been sentenced to 25 years in federal prison for his role in a major fentanyl pill lab operating out of a Lake Wylie-area mobile home. Federal agents seized about 160,000 pills and nearly 30 kilograms of fentanyl in the 2022 raid, and officials say the case highlights how counterfeit pills have fueled overdose risks for Lake Wylie and surrounding communities.

South Carolina Fails To Disclose Data Center Tax Breaks As QTS Builds $1 Billion York County Campus (wrhi.com) — A massive $1 billion QTS data center campus is rising just off Highway 274 near Lake Wylie, and watchdogs say South Carolina isn’t disclosing how much tax revenue it’s giving up for such projects. Record SC drought is taking a toll across Rock Hill region farms and lakes (heraldonline.com) — Lake Wylie is already more than four feet below full pond, and Duke Energy warns further drops could affect boat ramps and lake users if drought continues. York County farmers now qualify for federal emergency loans after months of record-dry weather. Residents drawing lake water are urged to cut back lawn irrigation to Tuesdays and Saturdays only.
