• Nuclear siren testing scheduled for Oct. 7 (lakenormanpublications.com) — Sirens around Catawba Nuclear Station on Lake Wylie will sound for three minutes sometime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7, as part of a routine test. Lake Wylie residents within 10 miles of the plant don’t need to take any action, but should know this is only a test of the emergency warning system. 
• Two York County Restaurants Earn B Grades In September, Both Upgraded On Follow-Up (wrhi.com) — If you eat at Lake Wylie Pizza just across the bridge in York, inspectors recently gave it a B in September before the restaurant quickly earned back an A on follow-up. The report details specific food-temperature and handling issues that were corrected, and reminds residents they can easily check any restaurant’s current grade and history online.
