Council also advanced multiple rezonings, backed a federal road-safety grant, and heard updates on United Way’s Meeting Street shelter project and a new Indian Land emergency department opening soon.
   

• ‘An incredible man': Lancaster County Sheriff's Office honors late master deputy (wbtv.com) — Lancaster County is mourning Master Deputy Michael Hirtle, who died Sunday at his home in Lancaster after nearly 25 years serving local residents in city police and the sheriff’s office. Colleagues remember him as a warm, community-minded officer who treated everyone like family and embodied “protect and serve,” and they’re asking neighbors to keep his loved ones and law enforcement family in their thoughts and prayers.
   

• SCRA awards $25K grant to Vet Media Group, adds Digital Site Box as member company (upstatebusinessjournal.com) — A Lancaster-based startup called Pathly has been awarded a $25,000 startup grant from the South Carolina Research Authority, putting local innovators in the spotlight. The grant supports Pathly alongside companies in Rock Hill, Sullivans Island, Greenville, and Charleston, all working on tech-driven solutions. These firms also gain access to expert coaching and potential future investment.
