SC: 71-year-old man charged in strip mall assault (wyff4.com) β State investigators say a 71-year-old man intentionally pinned someone between two vehicles at the Saluda Pointe strip mall in Lexington, leading to a second-degree assault and battery charge. The victim briefly lost leg function and needed outpatient treatment, and Lexington Police requested SLED to handle the investigation at the center that includes Starbucks and several other businesses.

Superintendent addresses weapons found at Lexington middle school (wach.com) β Lexington One's superintendent is reassuring families after a kitchen knife and a loaded handgun were found in separate incidents in students' backpacks at Carolina Springs Middle School, with no injuries or threats identified. He emphasized that all students and staff are safe, detailed the district's immediate, coordinated safety response, and urged families, students, staff, and law enforcement to keep working together to report and address concerns.

Columbia drug trafficking leader sentenced to 20 years (wach.com) β A major federal drug case that affected Lexington County has ended with a 20-year prison sentence for a Columbia man who helped distribute large quantities of meth, cocaine, fentanyl, and other drugs across the Columbia and Lexington County areas. Lexington County deputies worked alongside federal and Columbia authorities on the investigation, which also uncovered firearms and prior drug convictions.
