Lowcountry Strawberry Festival

“SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY”

The Lowcountry Strawberry Festival will take place at Boone Hall Plantation Thursday April 10th thru Sunday April 13th and this year’s event is promising to deliver “Something For Everybody.”

Over 30 thrill rides and attractions again will be featured so if going round and round and upside down is your thing, the festival will again have you covered.

But by popular demand we also are bringing back some past festival favorites as well as a few new additions. The Little Miss Berry Princess Contest will be back as will strawberry pie eating contests. and strawberry recipe contests. Details and entry forms can for these popular contests can be found on the Lowcountry Strawberry Festival page at www.boonehallplantation.com.

There will also be magic shows, juggling, pig races, live musical entertainment, face painting, and more. New additions for this event will include a Petting Zoo presented by Palmetto Ponies and Pets, a brand new jumping pillow, and an exhibit on farming will be presented by the South Carolina Dept. of Agriculture. One part of this new exhibit will feature an interactive activity for kids (and adults too if they like) where a soybean can be “planted” inside a cotton ball in a small plastic bag and worn as a necklace with body heat causing the seed to sprout in 24-48 hours. That’s pretty cool! There will also be gardening demonstrations and a costumed strawberry character on hand.

And of course, there will be U-Picking of strawberries while available during event daytime hours.  U-pick strawberries to be paid for by the pound upon checkout.

The event will be divided into three main areas. The thrill rides will be featured in part of the festival known as The Main Event. All the contests, live music, the Petting Zoo, the new jump pillow, the SCDA exhibit, three story slide tower, rock climbing wall, playground area, and other family friendly festival activities will be staged in the area known as Farm Land. (This is the same area where the Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch is staged each fall.) Food will be available for purchase in both areas.

And U-Pick strawberries will be located in an area back on the farm. Tractor rides will be available to take event goers back and forth to the u-pick strawberry fields.

Paid admission is required for entrance into the festival. Admission prices for this year’s event remain the same as last year in a continued effort to make this event work for the family budget. Paid admission allows entrance into both The Main Event and Farm Land parts of the event and access to the U-Pick strawberry fields.

Admission prices are as follows:
$5 - ages 12 and up      $3 - ages 3-11
Ages 2 and under are admitted FREE with accompanying adult.

Additional purchase required for rides
The dates and hours for this year’s festival are as follows:

Opening Night Thursday April 10th - 6pm-10pm - Student Night
Friday      April 11 -  4pm-11PM
Saturday April 12 - 10am-11PM
Sunday April 13   -  Noon-7pm

The festival kicks off on Opening Night Thursday April 10th from 6pm-10pm with Student Night. This night was very popular last year and as a result we are bringing it back. With paid admission into the event, for this one night only, event goers can purchase Ride Everything Wrist Bands for the special discounted price of only ten bucks. Although this night is being designated as Student Night, the ride wrist band special will again be available for all age groups.

For the other days and hours of operation, ride wrist bands can be purchased at the event for $20 each, which is still a great value for unlimited riding on all featured rides ($75 value).

However, individual tickets will also be sold at the event if the choice is to pay for rides individually instead of purchasing a wrist band. The number of tickets required for each ride will vary. These tickets will be $1 each.

Ride wrist bands and individual tickets can be purchased at numerous ticket booths once inside the event.

Advance admission tickets can be purchased online at www.boonehallplantation.com. Event goers can save time and avoid ticket lines by purchasing admission tickets in advance online and receive immediate entrance into the event with little or no waiting.

The festival is being presented in cooperation with the South Carolina Dept. Of Agriculture’s Certified SC Grown program and the Town of Mt. Pleasant and sponsored by Coke and Palmetto RV.

Additionally, plans are underway to support East Cooper Meals On Wheels with a food drive at the festival and a contribution will be made to their operation from the proceeds for this event.

Anything and almost everything you may want to know about the festival is covered in great detail on a special Q&A section on the special Lowcountry Strawberry Festival page at www.boonehallplantation.com
