• Golf tournament started by father with ALS returns as family legacy (live5news.com) — Mount Pleasant residents can support ALS research and care at the 2026 Drive for ALS Golf Classic on Nov. 2 at Snee Farm Country Club. Started by the late Russ Robinson, the tournament aims to raise $100,000 this year, with a public kickoff party in downtown Charleston the evening before. Proceeds benefit The ALS Association's services, research and advocacy.
   

• Mount Pleasant man convicted of fentanyl trafficking, firearm charges (live5news.com) — A Mount Pleasant man has been convicted in federal court for conspiring to distribute fentanyl and carrying a gun during drug trafficking tied to the Charleston area. Jurors found he was involved in at least 40 grams of fentanyl, and a 2022 traffic stop uncovered drugs, cash and a loaded pistol. He now faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison.
