Here are the top four stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- The management at Lee's Farmers Market in Murrells Inlet have reported that Christmas trees are selling fast and this is not the year to wait to buy your tree if you want one. Christmas tree farms in the Carolinas are going through their inventory quickly citing a shortage of trees. Lee's Farmers Market says it has sold 50% of its inventory. Trees were delivered earlier than usual due to trucking concerns. (wpde.com)
- Here's a list of the planned Black Friday schedules for major retailers in the Grand Strand area. It looks like there won't be many stores opening on Thanksgiving Day or evening this year. Friday morning, things kick off at 6 a.m. for several retailers. Walmart seems to be the only retail giant opening at 6 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday. A full list of big-name stores is included in the article here: (WBTW)
- It's being described as an "incredible" turnaround as gas prices dropped almost 9 cents per gallon in South Carolina within the past week. That's great news for road trippers and shoppers as we approach the busy Thanksgiving holiday. Gasoline prices are more than 10 cents lower than a month ago, but still 6 cents higher than last year on this date. The average price in SC is $3.17 and on the Grand Strand it's about $3.19 per gallon. (WBTW) (WMBF)
- There's always so much to do in Myrtle Beach and the holiday season is no exception. Myrtle Beach is "the place to be for families" looking for holiday activities, says Karen Riordan with Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. To name off just a few local attractions and activities there's Brookgreen Gardens' Nights of A Thousand Candles, the MarshWalk Wonderland of Lights, the Santa Crawl, Carolina Opry's Christmas Show of the South, the Myrtle Beach Bowl college football game, Winter Wonderland at the Beach, the Beach Ball Classic basketball tournament and the Great Christmas Light Show. About me: The best decision I ever made was relocating to the Myrtle Beach area from New England a few years ago, with my three dogs and three cats. I enjoy dogs, cats, road trips, photography, writing, vegetarian food, live music, bicycling and above all my daily walks on the beaches in and around the Grand Strand.
