Here are the top five stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- Following up on the weekend's report of a pedestrian being hit by a car in Market Common on Friday night, the Horry County Coroner's office has confirmed that the pedestrian died. Timothy Jodoin, 55, of Myrtle Beach was hit at the intersection of Fred Nash Boulevard and Farrow Parkway around 6 p.m. Friday. He was transported to Grand Strand Medical Center where he died from multiple injuries. (Myhorrynews)
- In connection with the crash that killed Jodoin, a man was arrested and charged with driving without a license. Juan Carlos Ayala-Morales, 39, paid a traffic fine of $232 after his arrest. It is not clear whether Ayala-Morales will face additional charges. (WMBF) (wpde.com)
- Horry County Fire Rescue crews were called to a fire on Socastee Boulevard Saturday afternoon. The fire displaced three people who were offered assistance from the American Red Cross. Crews had the blaze under control in about an hour and no injuries were reported.(WMBF)

- United Way of Horry County is looking for volunteers to help with tax preparation. The organization provides free tax prep and electronic filing services to Horry County residents who qualify. Tax services will begin January 25, 2023 and will be available at three locations in Horry County including one in Myrtle Beach and one in Surfside.
