Savory to sweet: This new Myrtle Beach restaurant to offer sammies and desserts (myrtlebeachonline.com) — Myrtle Beach food lovers will soon get a new option when Sloan's Sweets & Sammies opens Sept. 15 inside the Everything Under the Sun Flea Market on South Kings Highway. The locally run spot will serve homemade grab-and-go sandwiches plus cakes, cinnamon rolls, cheesecakes, and more, all built around fresh, mostly local ingredients and a cozy patio-style vibe.
   

2. Myrtle Beach City Council OKs proposed surf park, multiple other ordinances (wbtw.com) — Myrtle Beach City Council has advanced a $150 million surf park and hospitality project at the former Palace Theater site, tied to up to $20 million in incentives once construction is mostly complete. Council also moved forward on land annexation for a new Fire Station 1 and Coast RTA transit center, and expanded designated golf cart parking with stricter enforcement on the city's north end.
   

3. New federal suit claims evidence was concealed, witnesses coached in 2023 Spivey shooting (wpde.com) — Horry County residents are seeing new legal action in the 2023 shooting death of Scott Spivey, as his estate files a federal lawsuit claiming county police concealed evidence and coached witnesses to protect North Myrtle Beach businessman Weldon Boyd. The suit follows a separate civil case where a judge denied stand-your-ground immunity, keeping potential civil liability on the table.
   

4. Community helps North Myrtle Beach officer, family who lost home in fire (wbtw.com) — A North Myrtle Beach police officer and his family are rebuilding after lightning sparked a weekend fire that destroyed their home and belongings, though no one was hurt. Community members, local businesses, and a rental company have stepped up with housing, meals, and donations, while the North Myrtle Beach Police Foundation continues to collect support for their long‑term recovery.
   

5. Details on Local Fall Events with Kind Keeper Animal Rescue (wfxb.com) — Animal lovers near Myrtle Beach can support Kind Keeper Animal Rescue through several fall fundraisers, including a Cruise for Paws in October and a Halloween Bar Crawl in the North Myrtle Beach area.
