Myrtle Beach police chief officially sworn in (myhorrynews.com) — Myrtle Beach has officially sworn in Frederick Chambers as its new police chief, marking only the third person to hold the role in nearly three decades. City leaders say a months-long national search, including input from residents and officers, led them to Chambers, who previously served in Fairfax County, Virginia. Officials are emphasizing high expectations as he leads the department forward.
   

2. Horry County opens new county complex in Carolina Forest with new police precinct (wbtw.com) — Horry County has moved key offices from 21st Avenue in Myrtle Beach to a new Central Coast Complex in Carolina Forest, changing where you'll go for taxes, court services, and police help. The building now houses a new fifth police precinct, treasurer, assessor, auditor, and magistrate courts, aiming to better serve fast-growing areas while slightly lengthening drives for some Myrtle Beach and Socastee residents.
   

3. New details emerge in deadly Highway 17 crash as reckless homicide probe continues (wpde.com) — A deadly Sept. 27 crash on Highway 17 Bypass in Myrtle Beach is now being investigated as a possible reckless homicide after a speeding pickup allegedly crossed the median and hit another vehicle head-on. The victim, 37-year-old Ukrainian refugee Serhii Babak, had recently settled in Myrtle Beach with his family, and police have not yet announced any charges as they continue gathering evidence.
   

4. Myrtle Beach, Conway coaches face off in biscuit bake-off before Victory Bell game (wpde.com) — Myrtle Beach High's football coach just claimed victory in a playful Bojangles biscuit bake-off against Conway's coach, snagging a $2,000 prize for the Seahawks. Conway still earned $1,000 for its athletics program as both schools used the kitchen showdown to stoke excitement for Friday's long-running Victory Bell rivalry game. Coaches say the friendly competition reflects strong tradition and mutual respect between the communities.
   

5. 'Allow me to show you who I am': Atlantic Beach's new police chief hopes to rebuild department (wbtw.com) — Atlantic Beach's new police chief, Jeblonski Green, is working to rebuild the town's long-vacant police department and hopes to have certified officers on the streets by January. With Horry County police currently covering the area, his plan includes reviewing state compliance, offering competitive pay, and building trust with residents from Atlantic Beach and the greater Myrtle Beach area.
