The new F.I.R.S.T. initiative offers PGA-led instruction, camaraderie, and mental health support for active and retired emergency personnel. Interested responders can learn more and register through projectgolf.org.

Destin named No. 1 Labor Day boating destination in United States, FWB cracks top 10 (getthecoast.com) — North Myrtle Beach is ranked among the nation’s top Labor Day boating destinations for 2026, putting our waters on the radar for travelers nationwide. A booking site’s data shows strong advance reservations across Florida and the Carolinas, meaning locals can expect more boat traffic, visiting families, and tourism dollars on the Intracoastal and nearby marinas that weekend.
   

3. Scott Spivey's shooters asked judge to reconsider granting immunity. What he ruled (myrtlebeachonline.com) — A judge has refused to reconsider denying Stand Your Ground immunity to two men, including the owner of North Myrtle Beach’s Buoys on the Boulevard, in a wrongful death civil case. The ruling keeps Weldon Boyd and Kenneth “Bradley” Williams exposed to the lawsuit over the 2023 roadside shooting of Scott Spivey in Horry County. Both men still claim they acted in self-defense.
   

4. Woman wins $75K on scratch-off she bought at North Myrtle Beach Kroger (wbtw.com) — A lucky player picked up a $75,000-winning scratch-off at the Kroger on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach after switching from her usual crossword ticket. She confirmed the win with a lottery app and says the money will help recover recent business investments. The store also earned a $750 commission for selling the winning ticket.
   

5. Conway Tigers football season preview (wbtw.com) — A familiar face for North Myrtle Beach football fans, former Chiefs offensive coordinator Jody Jenerette is now leading the Conway Tigers as head coach. He takes over a struggling 4A program that returns 11 starters and opens the 2026 season at home against Loris on August 21, hoping to rebuild a winning tradition along the Grand Strand.
