1. State wants to purchase 3,492 acres at Arcadia East (coastalobserver.com) — State officials are moving to buy the 3,492-acre Arcadia East tract between DeBordieu and Prince George, a short drive from Pawleys Island, to preserve the Waccamaw Neck’s largest undeveloped private property. The plan would halt a long-approved mega-development of homes, resort, and commercial space, instead placing the land under conservation with help from nonprofits while funding is finalized.
