• ‘I feel proud': 2 Horry County students compete in Scripps National Spelling Bee (wbtw.com) — A Socastee Middle School eighth grader just represented the community at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., alongside a peer from St. James. The two Horry County students trained for hours daily, advanced through tough regional contests, and say the friendships, confidence, and academic boost they gained matter more than trophies. 
• HGTC launches ABILITYWorks Workforce Readiness Program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (whosonthemove.com) — Socastee families now have a new pathway to employment support for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through HGTC’s ABILITYWorks program, which serves Horry and Georgetown counties. Led by longtime Socastee High School special education teacher and former State Teacher of the Year Jennifer Ainsworth, the program offers hands-on job skills training, certificates, and transition support into local hospitality and service jobs across the Grand Strand.
