SC counties enacting data center moratoriums • SC Daily Gazette (scdailygazette.com) — Spartanburg County leaders have approved a one-year pause on new data center projects while residents pack downtown hearings to challenge a massive power expansion at an existing facility. Locals and environmental groups worry about air pollution, noise, and long‑term impacts as the developer seeks to boost on‑site generation from 50 to 450 megawatts. State regulators will weigh a construction pause at a July 13 hearing in Columbia.

2. 4 Carolina Brotherhood Ride bikes stolen from Spartanburg church, officials say (foxcarolina.com) — Four bicycles used in the Carolina Brotherhood Ride were stolen overnight from a church on Clifton Glendale Road in Spartanburg, and deputies are asking for help finding them. Organizers say the bikes are deeply sentimental and vital for a rider managing PTSD, but they’re determined to keep the charity ride’s mission moving forward. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sgt. Brad Newton.

LIST: Where to celebrate America's 250th birthday in the Upstate (foxcarolina.com) — Spartanburg County residents can look forward to special events marking America’s 250th birthday on July 4, with celebrations planned across the Upstate. FOX Carolina is compiling a county-by-county list, including Spartanburg, and invites locals to submit additional events to help neighbors find the best places to gather and celebrate.

Austin Peay baseball to compete in inaugural Spartanburg College Baseball Series in 2027 (clarksvillenow.com) — College baseball fans in Spartanburg can look forward to Austin Peay and other top programs playing in the inaugural Spartanburg College Baseball Series at Fifth Third Park in February 2027. The Hub City Spartanburgers’ home field will host three days of games, with home-plate reserved tickets for the full tournament going on sale June 29 and general admission to follow.
