A Devil in a Bottle

Do you know you may have a problem in your bathroom?

In the most recent issue of the Summerville Journal Scene, there was a article written on two shoplifters in a local Walgreen's grabbing packages of grape flavored Delsym cough suppressent. They were stealing it because of the alcohol content. Upon leaving the store, they were arrested by the police due to an alert store clerk.

I mention this gentle reader, to bring to your attention, that you and I have in our bathrooms something that is a danger to our love ones, teens in particular. It's an everyday item. It's called mouthwash! That's right mouthwash.

In this day and age we are encouraged to read the labels of the products we buy, but how many of us read the label on our mouthwash? go aheard do it...Welcome back. Did you notice that it contains alcohol! Most do. And it is usally at 9 to 13+%. yep, it's higher than a lot of alcoholic beverages.!  One of the most popular contains over 13%. That's why it burns when you use it. the one in my bathroom contains 13%, another 9% in the guest bathroom. Out they go. As a former alcholic, I can't afford to mess with that stuff,

Do you realize that that is more than a lot of beer and wine?

When I ran a Christian rescue mission for 37 years in Rochester, NY a lot of street folks would come in high as a kite, not on beer and wine but on mouthwash.  They would swip it from the local drugstore or grocery when the were very busy and walk out the door with the stuff.

Today, in our country, there is a growing problem with teeagers doing the same thing and getting high. They use it going to school, on the bus,on breaks, at lunch and even going home. Is your kid's grades going down? Check your mouthwash, it just might be the problem.

The mouthwash industry realizes the problem and is now coming out with no-alcohol mouthwash. Even the biggest offender had place on the front label of their new mouthwash, "Alcohol Free".

My suggestion for the day is to get rid of those mouthwashs with alcohol and replace them with non-alcohol mouthwash. They are there on the store shelf, just read the label the life you save may be you own kid.
