Best Seafood Ever!
Low Country Boil, Trout, Catfish, Shrimp, Oysters you name it they have it!
Wow! Who knew how easy it would be so easy to make a great Low Country Boil? Lucky for us, my sister-in-law has a great propane outdoor cooker that my wife and I were able to borrow. So we all put our heads together and once again came up with a great idea for a pre-Christmas Dinner! Steamed Oysters and a Low Country Boil! Wooo weee! While the entire family enjoyed shucking and eating the steamed oysters we cooked the Low Country Boil with corn on the cob, potatoes, smoked sausage, and of course lots and lots of shrimp.
It all started the other day when my wife and I went to the Tractor supply on Highway 17 to get some items we needed for out pets. I like to go to Tractor supply just to look around so when she asked if I wanted to go, I said, “Sure!” I imagine the way I enjoy going there must be the way the ladies feel when they go to the shopping mall. Ya know?

Anyway, as we got out of the car we noticed that the new seafood market next door to the Tractor Supply was open. People were coming out with bags and bags of oysters. They were all excited, smiling and laughing all the way to their cars, so we decided to check it out.
My first thought was that it must be an oriental seafood market due to the emblem and the way it looks. As it turns out the emblem is the letters SF for SellsFish. Inside we discovered a bustling seafood market akin to what you would find on a fisherman’s wharf. It was busy, and folks were calling out their orders and the seafood was as fresh as it could be! The memory of it all is making me hungry!

Long story short, my wife and I ordered a bushel of oysters, and a bunch of shrimp. We also purchased a nice thick salmon filet - skin on, some incredible catfish fillets, tilapia, and some trout fillets. There were some fresh grouper laid out for selection but we decided to wait until next time for that. I love grouper! Especially a big thick fillet cooked just right! To my surprise they also had fresh farm raised bream from North Florida. I never knew folks raised bream for commercial purposes. Next time we are going to try that as well.
The day before Christmas we had the entire family over and we steamed the oysters and made the Low Country Boil. It was incredible! And the weather was beautiful, all in all it was a wonderful day and I wouldn’t have wanted to spend it any other way. The best part of it all was that I was able to Tom Sawyer my sister-in-law into doing all the cooking! Now that is something to brag about! She is from Louisiana and so she used some sort secret liquid Cajun Crab Boil and it was all so incredible! She wouldn’t tell me the secret but I have it on good authority that it isn’t Toni Chachere’s! It was that other one that starts with a Z…shhhh don’t teller I told ya!
Then, the other night, I cooked the Salmon filet over my charcoal grill. Oh man was it good! It was wild caught in Alaska, and absolutely fresh! I spiced it with some Cajun seasoning and a little extra black pepper and grilled it skin side down. On my wife’s orders, I grilled the skin until it was blackened, then I turned the filets and baked them golden. While I was cooking the Salmon she steamed some Asparagus using my Wok steamer. Usually, I am not a big asparagus fan but when she showed me how to drench it in butter, I was in! I may try some okra that way tonight.
Tonight, despite the cold temps I am going to grill the trout fillets the same way I did the salmon. I think I may drop by the grocery and pick up some fresh okra and have my wife steam it up the way she did the asparagus the other night. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to spice and grill trout filets? Perhaps you have a suggestion on how to cook okra?
Highly recommended, go by the SellsFish Premium Seafood market, owned by Paul Godbout located next door to the Tractor supply on N. Main Street and check it out. Know that everything in the market is American Wild Caught or Farm Raised. SellsFish is immaculately clean and in my humble opinion, it is professionally managed!
