Person Dies in Summerville Police Custody After Taser Use (fitsnews.com) — A person died after becoming unresponsive in Summerville police custody early Saturday, following what officers say was physical resistance that led them to use a Taser. Dorchester County EMS transported the individual to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead, and SLED has been called in to investigate as officials work to confirm the person's identity and cause of death.

National Night Out brings Lowcountry law enforcement, communities together (counton2.com) — Families in Summerville just had a chance to meet Dorchester County deputies up close during National Night Out at Ashley River Park, with K-9s, SWAT gear, and even a helicopter on display. Beyond the demos, organizers stressed building everyday trust between residents and law enforcement so that when emergencies happen, those relationships are already in place.

SCDOT offers no new details a week after I-26 backup (abcnews4.com) — A week after an I-26 lane closure turned the Summerville-to-Charleston commute into a nearly three-hour crawl, state transportation officials still won't name the contractor blamed for leaving cones out too long. SCDOT says it has nothing more to add, prompting a formal records request to uncover what went wrong and how future gridlock might be prevented.
