Words to Caregivers who care for Alzheimer's Patients from an Alzheimer's patient

Hi Gentle Reader, It's me again and I would like to pass along some words to caregivers.

Choose you battles. You will not win many, if any at all.

Take one day, one hour, at a time.

As bad as it is, it will get worse.

They say, "Never argue with a dementia patient." Which is good advice.

My guess is "they" are not caregivers.

It's natural to only be able to take so much. We all want to be treated with some level of respect.

If you're a caregiver, you can forget about respect.

The very best thing to remember is, you can't change anything. You can adapt, redirect, or just count to ten.

But even then, truth is everyone had a breaking point. Everyone.

No when to ask for help, and do it.

You are not alone, even though at 3:00am, being up for the third time it sure seems like it.

Caregivers can and do succumb to this disease sometime before the patient.

Stress can kill. Please reach out for help. It's the right thing to do for you, and your loved one...

I hope these will help you as you gain a better perspective on caregiving.

As always, Comments are welcome!

Talke to you later....Kaye
