Words To Caregivers with Alzheimer's patient from a friend of mine.

Gentle reader, here are some thought on dealing with Alzheimer's for Caregivers from a friend of mine Rich Phelps who has Alzheimer's

Choose you battles. You will not win many, if any at all.

Take one day, one hour, at a time.

As bad as it is, it will get worse.

They say, "Never argue with a dementia patient." Which is good advice.

My guess is "they" are not caregivers.

It's natural to only be able to take so much. We all want to be treated with some level of respect.

If you're a caregiver, you can forget about respect.

The very bes thing to remember is, you can't change anything. You can adapt, redirect, or just count to ten.

But even then, truth is everyone had a breaking point. Everyone.

No when to ask for help, and do it.

You are not alone, even though at 3:00am, being up for the third time it sure seems like it.

Caregivers can and do succumb to this disease sometime before the patient.

Stress can kill. Please reach out for help. It's e right thing to do for you, and your loved one...
