Developing: Rock Hill Schools back and support York County and its amended tax incentive agreement with resolution (wrhi.com) — Rock Hill Schools have voted 5–2 to support York County Council’s amended tax incentive agreement with Octapharma, a deal tied to the former Panthers site. The project could bring 1,500 jobs and $1.5 billion in investment, while shifting tens of millions in tax benefits among the city, county, and schools, pending Rock Hill City Council approval.

York County Celebrates Opening of New Woodend Park (einpresswire.com) — York County’s new Woodend Park in the Bethel-Lake Wylie area opens to the public this Saturday, July 18, giving residents fresh hiking options close to home. With 2.5 miles of trails, a gated parking lot off Glenn Brandon Road, and seasonal hours, it’s a leave-no-trace spot for quick local nature escapes.

3. York County just OK'd data center moratorium. Its impact depends on what comes next (heraldonline.com) — York County has paused new data center proposals for nine months while officials overhaul zoning and land-use rules, a move driven by intense public concern over water, power, and environmental impacts. The moratorium doesn’t stop the massive QTS project in Lake Wylie, but it will shape where and how any future facilities can be built across the county.

South Carolina races to stop invasive hornets threatening honey crops (thesheffieldpress.com) — South Carolina officials are tracking an invasive yellow-legged hornet after a major nest was destroyed in York County, killing more than 400 queens and marking the first find outside the Lowcountry. Clemson University and state partners are racing to remove nests statewide to protect honey bees, pollination, and crops that York-area beekeepers and farmers rely on.
