• Huron Repairing Football Stadium (kccrradio.com) — Huron’s Tiger Stadium is closed while damaged light towers are removed and turf repairs are finished, forcing earlier start times for home soccer and football this fall. Officials expect turf work done by mid-August, with soccer doubleheaders starting September 3 at 3 p.m. and five home football games kicking off at 4:30 p.m., including the first on September 11.

• South Dakota teen dies when train, car collide (mitchellrepublic.com) — A 16-year-old from Highmore was killed early Wednesday when his pickup was struck by an eastbound train at a railroad crossing in Wessington, about 30 miles west of Huron. State officials say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt, and the Highway Patrol continues to investigate the central South Dakota crash.
