1. Minn. Ave. work projected to conclude by end of November (keloland.com) — If you drive Minnesota Avenue in central Sioux Falls, expect construction between Eighth and Second streets to last until late November, when all four lanes are projected to reopen. Crews are currently replacing underground utilities, including sanitary sewer and a large water main, and city engineers urge drivers to stay alert and avoid distractions while traveling through the work zone.
   

2. SDSU, Sioux Falls celebrate new Metro Center renovation (dakotanewsnow.com) — A newly renovated 44,000-square-foot Metro Center off Minnesota Avenue is now the Sioux Falls home base for SDSU's health care education programs. With about 200 students already learning nursing, pharmacy, and other health fields on-site, Mayor Christine Erickson says the facility will bring more young residents into the city's core to live, study, and contribute to the community.
   

3. Midwest Food Bank expanding reach in Sioux Falls area (keloland.com) — A new Midwest Food Bank distribution center is being planned in Sioux Falls, which could expand support from 20 to as many as 300 partner nonprofits across the region. For local residents, that means more food flowing at no cost to agencies like Faith Temple Food Giveaway, strengthening hunger relief efforts in Sioux Falls and surrounding communities.
   

4. Country singer Dylan Scott's Dear Big City Tour coming to Sioux Falls (argusleader.com) — Country artist Dylan Scott is bringing his "Dear Big City Tour" to the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls on January 28, 2027, with special guests Graham Barham and Cody Lohden. Local fans can buy presale tickets starting September 24 at 10 a.m., with general sales opening September 25, for a show at the 3,250-seat venue that's hosted several big-name acts.
   

5. New facilities and curriculum, same goal (volanteonline.com) — USD's medical school is shifting its first 18 months of training to Sioux Falls, placing students inside Sanford and Avera facilities for more hands-on, patient-centered learning. Leaders say Vermillion will remain vital for PhD education while Sioux Falls grows into a true academic hub, aiming to better prepare doctors and keep more physicians serving South Dakota communities.
