Firefighters stop Buckeye Fire near Lake Boulevard in north Redding (redding.com) — Firefighters quickly contained the Buckeye Fire near Lake Boulevard in north Redding and the larger Linden Fire south of downtown on Friday afternoon, keeping both blazes relatively small. Crews are monitoring hot spots, and the Redding Fire Department is urging residents to clear defensible space, avoid spark-prone activities, and report any smoke or flames immediately.

Redding man sentenced to 15 Years in fatal shooting of mother (krcrtv.com) — A North Redding man has been sentenced to 15 years in state prison for fatally shooting his mother in the Shadow Glen Drive home they shared. Shasta County prosecutors say he pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter with a firearm enhancement after an investigation by Redding police.

Hoaxed Book US Tour Dates with Black Tusk (ghostcultmag.com) — Fans of heavy, dark rock in Redding can catch Portland trio Hoaxed with Black Tusk at The Dip on August 6 as part of their West Coast tour.
