Participants will walk quietly to reflect on peace and unity, with the event timed to precede the United Nations’ International Day of Peace observance.

(fox61.com) — A New Britain family says Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library has turned nightly reading into a cherished routine, with free books arriving monthly for their young children. The program, available in Hartford and New Britain, has already reached thousands of Connecticut kids, and local United Way leaders say it’s putting hundreds of thousands of books into homes while honoring Parton’s literacy legacy.

Connecticut officials address school swatting incidents (wtnh.com) — State education and public safety leaders met in New Britain to confront a rise in school swatting threats and other modern dangers facing students. Officials stressed how these hoaxes disrupt learning and pledged closer cooperation between educators and law enforcement to keep Connecticut school communities safe this year.
   

4. Man charged with murder in deadly Rocky Hill stabbing had pending domestic violence case (wtnh.com) — A man accused in the fatal stabbing of a Rocky Hill woman has been arraigned in New Britain Superior Court on murder and protective-order violation charges, with bond set at $2 million. He was extradited back to Connecticut after being detained in New York and is due in New Britain court again on Sept. 17.
