📰 News we're reading

• ‘It's about inclusion': CCSU football pairs with ‘Beautiful Lives Project' for heartwarming event (courant.com) — New Britain residents saw CCSU football players welcome about 50 people with disabilities onto Arute Field for an energetic, hands-on clinic organized with the Beautiful Lives Project. The long-running partnership, rooted in work once done with the New Britain Bees, focuses on inclusion, giving participants a rare chance to feel like teammates while players practice giving back.

• CT police chiefs defend license plate cameras amid public outcry (wshu.org) — New Britain has recently approved using license plate-reading cameras, even as some Connecticut towns reject the technology and the governor urges a pause. Police chiefs argue the cameras help solve serious crimes, while critics raise privacy and civil rights concerns. The debate could shape how surveillance tools are used in communities statewide.

• Bronx man arrested in Connecticut allegedly stole 27 bottles of NyQuil and DayQuil from CVS (fox61.com) — A man accused of stealing about $1,000 in cold medicine from a Wilton CVS also has outstanding warrants tied to missed court dates in New Britain and Middletown. He now must appear in New Britain Superior Court on the earlier case, in addition to facing the new fifth-degree larceny charge from Wilton.
