Former Connecticut state marshal accused of improperly handling $38K of funds (wtnh.com) — A former Connecticut state marshal from Wethersfield is accused of keeping about $38,000 she collected for judgment creditors and now faces a first-degree larceny charge. Her case is scheduled for New Britain Superior Court on October 26, which means local residents may see increased attention on the courthouse and its proceedings later this month.
   

2. CT Culture Corner: K-Pop, RUSH, ‘Mamma Mia' and more hit stages around the state (ctpost.com) — New Britain residents can look forward to a major new exhibit at the New Britain Museum of American Art, showcasing Mary Cassatt and her circle from Nov. 7 through Feb. 14, 2027. The roundup also spotlights other arts and entertainment options statewide, from K-pop shows at Lake Compounce to “Mamma Mia!” at The Bushnell and a dog-focused theater event.
   

3. Hartford Women's Cross Country Places Eighteenth in Connecticut College Invitational (hartfordhawks.com) — Hartford’s women’s cross country team just finished 18th at the Connecticut College Invitational and is now headed to New Britain next week for the Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet. Local fans can watch regional college runners compete on October 24, when the Hawks race again on New Britain’s home course.
   

4. Eversource sues PURA over denial of $400M in storm cost interest (hartfordbusiness.com) — A major utility lawsuit has landed in New Britain’s Superior Court, where Eversource is challenging regulators’ refusal to grant about $400 million in interest on storm-recovery costs. While PURA already approved most of nearly $1 billion in expenses, state officials argue the extra interest would unfairly burden electric customers, and the outcome could influence future storm charges on Connecticut bills.
