22 Sex Offenders Arrested In Statewide Pre-Halloween Check-Up

Tennessee Department of Correction officials performed more than 3,000 home visits of registered sex offenders ahead of Halloween.

NASHVILLE, TN — Tennessee Department of Correction officials arrested 22 people during Operation Blackout, the state's annual pre-Halloween check-up of sex offenders.

Between Oct. 21 and Halloween, TDOC officers performed home visits on 3,188 people on the state's sex offender registry to ensure their compliance with their release conditions generally and with the special rules for Halloween specifically.

“This is just another way that this Department truly enhances public safety,” TDOC Commissioner Tony Parker said in a release. “As a parent, I breathe a little easier knowing that our officers are doing this additional check to make sure that our smallest stakeholders – our children – can have a safe night.”
