Antioch Man Arrested on Child Porn Charges After Skype Tips Off Police
Skype alerted Metro Nashville police about the child pornography, leading to an Antioch man's arrest.
ANTIOCH, TN — An investigation that began after a tip by alert employees at Skype, Metro Nashville police arrested an Antioch man on child pornography charges Sunday.
In August, Skype — an Internet video chat and voice call service — alerted Nashville police that a user in Davidson County uploaded two pornographic images of what was believed to be minor females using its service. Detectives then matched the IP address of the user to a home on Hickory Rim Court in Antioch.
On January 24, detectives executed a warrant on the home and interviewed Gerardo Paredes. A search of Paredes' cell phone revealed one of the photos which had been uploaded to Skype, along with "other sexual images of minor children." The phone was seized and examined by forensic examiners who found "hundreds" of images of child pornography.
