Bar Customer Shot After Ignoring Last Call: Reports

A Rutherford County man is facing charges in the early morning shooting, say police.

NASHVILLE, TN — A man is recovering at a local hospital after getting shot in the face early Friday when he refused to leave an Antioch bar at closing time, according to media reports.

The shooting occurred at Kat's Bar and Grille on Mount View Road, WTVF-TV News Channel 5 reported. Metro Nashville Police officers responded to the scene at about 1 a.m. Friday, after a bar employee got into an argument with a customer who refused to leave as the bar was closing.

The argument escalated into a shoving match, and then the employee grabbed a gun and fired a shot, grazing the customer in the face, the police said.

The victim was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was treated for minor injuries, according to News Channel 5.

The bar employee drove home to Rutherford County but was later taken into custody by police, say media reports. He was identified by police as John Parks, and he's been charged with aggravated assault and a felony in possession of a handgun, according to WKRN-TV Channel 2.

Parks is scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, Channel 2 reported.
