Bell Road Wreck Kills 1, Injures 2
The driver of a Nissan Maxima died after crossing the center line and hitting a Mazda on Bell Road.

NASHVILLE, TN — The driver of a Nissan Maxima died and two other people were hurt in a crash on Bell Road Friday morning.
Metro Police believe the Maxima over-corrected after leaving the roadway and crossed the center line on Bell Road near Harbor Spring Drive in Priest Lake around 3 a.m. Friday and struck an oncoming Mazda Protege. The driver of the Maxima, Tecoria Benson, 32, died at the scene. The driver of the Mazda, Evelio Gomez, 41, and his sister, Yaelaine Hernandez, were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Hernandez in critical condition and Gomez with non-life-threatening injuries.
Benson was not wearing her seatbelt. Police said there was no indication of impairment for Gomez and toxicology tests are underway for Benson.

The investigation of the wreck shut down a mile-and-half stretch of Bell Road between Ned Shelton Road and Smith Springs Road.
