Husband Leaves Door Open, Wife Shoots Him: Nashville Police

Police charged a South Nashville woman with attempted homicide for allegedly shooting her husband during an argument about an open door.

NASHVILLE, TN — A South Nashville man left the door to his house open Thursday night, sparking an argument that ended when his wife shot him, according to Metro police.

Justin Johnson drove himself to the hospital Thursday night with a gunshot wound suffered when his wife, Lakesha, 38, fired at his car as he attempted to leave the couple's home on Currey Road, he told investigators. According to an affidavit, the couple began arguing after Justin left the door to the house open when he got home from work and decided to make a quick run to the store. When he got back, Lakesha told him to move out and then fired a handgun at the car as he was leaving. One bullet went through the driver's side door, hitting him in the arm.

According to the police report, Justin got out of the car, told his wife she shot him, to which she responded “B----, I don’t give a f---, I hope you die."

Detectives said shell casings at the scene were consistent with Justin's story.

Lakesha Johnson was arrested Friday morning and charged with attempted homicide.
