Interstate Drag Racers Cause Crash

Metro Police believe a car illegally racing down Interstate 24 early Saturday caused an innocent bystander to wreck.

NASHVILLE, TN — A pickup truck flipped early Saturday morning after being rear-ended on Interstate 24 near Old Hickory Boulevard. Metro Police believe the driver who hit the truck was participating in an on-interstate street race.

Police were able to find the yellow Pontiac G5 that caused the crash, but it was unoccupied by the time it was located and there was no license plate on the sports car, making it even more difficult to identify the driver.

“I’m going to die. I'm going to die,” Andy Dean, the driver of the truck, told NewsChannel 5. “So as soon as it stopped, the first thing I had to do was get out of the truck because I'm in the middle of the interstate. I'm lucky to be alive.”
