Metro Schools Students Return January 5; See Key Second Semester Dates
Here are important dates to know for the spring semester for Metro Schools.

NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Schools students return to class after Christmas break Thursday, January 5, beginning the spring half of the 2016-17 academic year. Here are some key dates to remember for the second semester.
- January 5: Students return
- January 16: Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, no school
- February 8: Progress reports issued
- February 20: Teacher's Professional Development Day, no students
- March 15: End of Third Quarter
- March 16-17: Potential snow make-up days, otherwise no students
- March 20-24: Spring Break
- March 27: Teacher Planning Day, no students
- March 28: Fourth Quarter begins
- April 3: Report cards issued
- April 14: Spring holiday, no school
- April 26: Progress reports issued
- May 22-24: Half day for exams (grades 9-12)
- May 25: Half day for all grades, last day of school
March 20 through 24 are guaranteed spring break days. Should the school system need to make-up snow days, it will utilize March 16 and 17. Students do not report March 27, either. Effectively, spring break is March 20 through 27, though it could potentially begin as early as March 16.
