Murder Charges Coming For 15-Year-Old As Father Dies
Attempted murder charges against a 15-year-old will be upgraded to homicide following his father's death Wednesday.

NASHVILLE, TN — Charges against a 15-year-old will be upgraded from attempted murder to criminal homicide after his father died Wednesday more than two weeks after being shot in the head.
Scottie Bailey Sr., 46, died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Wednesday night. He was found shot in the head in his bedroom on Cocoa Drive in North Nashville the night of July 23.

Bailey's son, 15-year-old Scottie Jr., call 911 around 10 p.m. that night to report the shooting, but "his account of what happened evolved during the night," according to police.
Investigators say that Bailey Jr.'s final story is that he went into his father's bedroom to look at a gun and that the pistol accidentally fired, hitting his father in the forehead. Bailey Jr. then took a shower, changed clothes, cleaned his room and drove to a friend's house in Antioch, according to police.

Bailey Jr. did not call 911 for more than three hours. The pistol was found in the console of the vehicle Bailey Jr. drove to Antioch, according to detectives.
