Nashville Man Leaps From Cliff To Escape Police; It Doesn't Work

The man, who police say is wanted on burglary charges, broke his ankle and hobbled across traffic before being arrested.

NASHVILLE, TN — In a failed effort to avoid being captured by police, a man jumped from a bluff at the Interstate 440/Interstate 24 interchange, breaking his ankle for his trouble.

Metro Police pulled the man over for a routine traffic stop early Tuesday morning. Then the man ran, jumping off a 20-foot bluff onto the I-440 on-ramp below. Broken ankle and all, he then "hobbled" across all of the travel lanes before being arrested.

The man was taken to General Hospital. Police said he is wanted on burglary charges.
