Nashville Music Education Gets $1 Million Boost from CMA Foundation

The CMA Foundation has now donated more than $11 million for music education in Metro School.s

NASHVILLE, TN — The CMA Foundation announced a new $1 million grant for music education in Nashville's public schools.

The charitable arm of the Country Music Association has donated $17.5 million for music education over the years, $11 million of which has gone to Metro Schools.

Former Centennial High School and Lipscomb University student Kelsea Ballerini, who was announced as a nominee for the Best New Artist Grammy Tuesday, announced the donation at Oliver Middle School on Nolensville Road.

“Music does make us, it does,” the country singer said, according to WKRN. “From the beginning of the day until the end of the day, it makes us and it all starts when you are young – in elementary school, in middle school and in high school – these are the times of your life that kind of defines who you are, what you are passionate about and discovering that for the first time. For me it was music."
