Nashville Teacher Facing Child Porn Charges Resigns from Metro Schools

Jailed Jarret Jones, accused of secretly recording elementary school girls changing clothes, resigned his position by letter Friday.

NASHVILLE, TN β€” The former music teacher and assistant band director accused of videotaping elementary school girls changing clothes in a closet and facing a bevy of child pornography charges has officially resigned from Metro Schools.

Jarrett Jones, 30, has been jailed since his September 19 arrest, but was technically on administrative leave without pay. He resigned his position by letter Friday, MNPS spokesman Joe Bass told The Tennessean.

Jones is accused of surreptitiously recording 40 girls changing clothes for school musicals and plays in a closet at Napier Elementary where he taught music prior to becoming assistant band director at Antioch High School.

Police say they also found more 1,000 explicit images of minors unrelated to Napier on Jones' hard drive.

He is charged with two counts of especially aggravated sexual exploitation of minors and three counts of sexual exploitation of minors and given the eight to 12 year minimum sentences on each charge, potentially faces life imprisonment.

The Tennessean reports Jones' charges will be up in the next session of the grand jury.
