One Dead, One Injured in Antioch Hit-And-Run
Suspected driver turns herself in and admits to drinking prior to the fatal crash.

ANTIOCH, TN β A woman is dead and a man is hospitalized after the motorcycle they were riding was involved in a hit-and-run on Bell Road early Sunday.
Emily Garlit, 23, was pronounced dead on the scene of the 3 a.m. accident. The motorcycle Garlit was riding was hit by a grey Nissan, throwing her and Jorge Gonzalez from the bike. Gonzalez was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His injuries are life-threatening.
The driver of the Nissan did not stop.

Linda Sarmiento, 30, turned herself in later Sunday and admitted she was driving the car. Police said that during an interview she said she heard a thud as she made a U-turn into her Bell Road apartment complex and saw two people and a motorcycle sliding across the road in her wake.
Police say she admitted to drinking before the accident. Sarmiento was convicted of DUI in 2014.

She is currently charged with driving on a revoked license and failure to provide proof of insurance, though MNPD expects further charges will be filed once the crash investigation is complete.
