One Killed in Stabbing South of Downtown Nashville
The victim was stabbed around 3 a.m. in front of the Pruitt Branch library near J.C. Napier Homes and later died.

NASHVILLE, TN — A man was stabbed to death near a Nashville library Saturday morning
Metro Police were called to the Pruitt Branch Library near the J.C. Napier Homes south of downtown around 3 a.m. Saturday on reports of a stabbing. The victim, 60-year-old Jessie Clay, was immediately transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and later died during treatment.
Derrick Hampton, 48, is charged with criminal homicide and is being held on a $500,000 bond. Police say Hampton admitted to the stabbing when he was found at his home on Charles E. Davis Boulevard.
