Plumber Finds Mortar Under Crieve Hall Home

The unexploded ordnance was no danger, police said.

NASHVILLE, TN — Plumbers find all kinds of weird things in the course of their work; ask a plumber what Thanksgiving is like and sit back and enjoy the stories.

But even by the high standards of plumbers, this one is a head-scratcher.

A plumber working at a home on Hogan Road in Crieve Hall was under the house repairing a pipe when he found a mortar shell. Then, in a fit of courage, zeal or obliviousness, pulled it out of the ground to show to the homeowner.

Metro Police were called to the scene about 2 p.m. and the bomb squad determined that there was nothing dangerous at the home.

A request to Metro Police for more information on the type and age of the mortar was not immediately returned.
