Police: Carjacker Demands to Go to Chattanooga, Ends Up Arrested in Williamson County
A Nashville woman was surprised to see a man not her husband driving and demanding a trip to Chattanooga.
NASHVILLE, TN — An alleged carjacker demanded a ride to Chattanooga after stealing a car with a woman and a dog inside, police said.
A husband and wife sharing a lunch break were parked outside a Trousdale Drive business Monday. The husband had to step inside the business for a moment, leaving his wife and their dog in the car. Shortly thereafter, the car began to pull away. The woman, not paying attention, did not initially realize that the man driving was not her husband, but was instead 44-year-old Anthony Ward.
Ward told the woman he had to go to Chattanooga, according to a police report. The woman open her door and then tried to grab her dog out of the backseat and Ward allegedly pushed her out of the car and sped off.

The truck was later found in Williamson County — indicating that Ward either intended to cut over to Interstate 24 via Interstate 840 or that he had no idea where he was going — and Ward was found nearby a short time thereafter. He allegedly admitted he had stolen the truck.
Ward is charged with robbery-carjacking.
