Pot By Post: 15 Pounds Of Marijuana Mailed To Nashville Woman, Police Say
Metro Police smelled "fresh marijuana" coming from a box delivered to a Thompson Lane doorstep.

NASHVILLE, TN — Acting on a tip from the United States Postal Service, Metro Police arrested a woman Wednesday who had 15 pounds of marijuana delivered to her doorstep.
USPS officials contacted Metro Police detectives because they believed a parcel set for delivery contained illegal drugs. The detectives told the post office to go ahead and deliver the box and they set up surveillance outside a Thompson Lane home. The mailman knocked on the door and receiving no answer, left the box outside. A few minutes later, detectives said Silvia Reyes picked up the box and brought inside. The detectives knocked on the door and Reyes let them inside and brought them the recently delivered package, from which the investigators said they could smell "fresh marijuana." Opening the box, they discovered vacuum-sealed bags totaling 15 pounds of pot.

Investigators said messages on Reyes' cell phone gave instructions for delivering the marijuana. She was booked on charges of possession with intent to distribute.
