Middle Tennessee's Surprise Snow Brings Traffic Headaches, More Than 300 Wrecks
A bus with children aboard slid into a ditch, another hit a mailbox and others got stuck as Nashville is cold-cocked by snow.

ANTIOCH, TN — The track of Friday's snowstorm ended up farther north than forecasters expected, catching Nashville unawares, leading to school closures and early dismissals across the Midstate and causing traffic headaches in the area. Metro Schools made an early decision to start school on time, but officials later reversed the call and announced early dismissal, with high schools closing at 10:30, elementary schools at 11:30 and middle schools at 12:30, perhaps influenced by a handful of accidents in Antioch as buses tried to get students to school.
Around 7:30 Friday morning, a bus on Tusculum Road near Shihmen Drive hit a mailbox. No one was injured in the crash.
Two other buses in Antioch were reportedly stuck on a road, as well.
