The off-duty Nolensville police officer returned to work after getting physical with would-be burglar.

NASHVILLE, TN — A shoplifting suspect sliced the hand of a security guard at a South Nashville Walmart early Saturday.

Police say the security guard, an off-duty police officer from Nolensville, approached the would-be shoplifter around 2 a.m. and the pair got physical. Then the suspect pulled a knife, cutting the security guard on the hand and escaping.

The guard was treated on the scene and returned to work. The would-be shoplifter remained just that and did not make off with any merchandise.
